Hey there!
I’m Angelique Velez
CEO. Mentor. Makeup Artist.
Makeup Artist
Ever since I can remember, I have been interested in the beauty industry. But growing up in a household where I wasn’t allowed to own clear lip-gloss until the age of 16 wasn’t exactly an ideal start.
I fell head-over-heels in love with make-up during my college years. The colors and brushes and blending, oh my! I knew I was a makeup junkie and there was no way to control it. Soon after finishing college I knew I wanted to pursue make-up, and that’s what I did.
I’ve had the opportunity to work with some amazing leading artists such as Christian McCulloch, Hung Vanngo, Makky and Tom Pecheux. And I have been a part of shows for Cynthia Steffe, Peter Som, Karen Walker and RAD by Rad Hourani, as well as department head for MTV’s Video Music Awards.
The companies I’ve worked for include MAC Cosmetics, Make-up Designory, Tony and Tina and Anna Sui. And I’ve also used my make-up techniques for art therapy purposes in various hospitals to help improve self esteem in adolescents.
Ceo
In June of 2013, I launched Breakups To Makeup to spread the message that makeup is more than just a product but also a form of art. Makeup serves as a creative outlet to those applying it, and livens the spirits of those wearing it.
After going through a difficult time in my own life (ahem, a breakup), makeup literally saved me and served as my outlet to devote my time and energy. Many people don’t understand that makeup to us is not “just” a product, but our creative outlet. I wanted to spread this message in a fun and quirky way, hence the birth of B2M.
Breakups to Makeup serves as a staple for self-expression. To the person whose heart was broken and buried themselves in the darkest of places, to the cancer patient who has lost all her hair yet finds comfort in that perfect shade of lipstick, to the person who has a genuine love for makeup; Breakups to Makeup is for you.
Mentor
As the founder of a beauty brand, an educator and a working makeup artist, I learned just how important it is to surround yourself with mentors and a community that can help you stay on track and take your business or career to the next level.
After struggling in my own business, I was looking for a program that could help me and that’s when I enrolled in my first mastermind program.
It was life (and business) changing!
I knew that this was a necessity for the makeup community and My Makeup Mastermind was born.
Now, I help fellow makeup artists and entrepreneurs reach the next step in their business with both group and private mentoring programs.
